6 Researches | 6 Pitches | 6 Prices
Prize money totalling 30,000 Euro.
Once a year within the framework of the research idea competition “Forum Junge Spitzenforscher”, the Stiftung Industrieforschung and the Berlin universities seek young researchers (m/f/d) with innovative and practice-oriented ideas and approaches to solutions that emerge from their innovative basic research.
At the closing event on 18 November 2020, six finalists from among the applicants will be invited to pitch their ideas in front of a jury of experts and compete for the prize money totalling 30,000 Euro. For the jury, the (future) economic or social feasibility is particularly decisive.
For the seventh time already, the research idea competition “Forum Junge Spitzenforscher” takes place – with annually alternating calls. In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, a virtual event format is planned for the closing event of this year’s forum.
We would like to thank the Stiftung Industrieforschung for the kind support and for providing the prize money.
This year's call: Artificial Intelligence
Artificial intelligence (AI) and increasingly complex algorithms are revolutionizing our society like no other technology. It is already part of promising future trends such as in Industry 4.0 or Smart Home.
In the health and care sector, it has become indispensable. With its core competence, the collection and processing of vast amounts of data (Big Data), it allows us to monitor our health, track infections and predict and prevent diseases.
We have learned to use machines as a matter of course – not least because of intuitive AI-based interfaces and speech processing. Our smart devices calculate routes crosstown and intelligent algorithms recommend us movies, tv shows or music that we might like.
New questions of data protection and responsibility are coming to the fore as a result of constantly living with and relying on artificial intelligence: Who protects us (and our data) from intelligent machines?
Within the framework of the “Forum Junge Spitzenforscher”, Artificial Intelligence is understood as an interdisciplinary subject and young researchers from all disciplines are invited to apply with their research ideas.
Application and registration deadline
The new application round of the science competition “Forum Junge Spitzenforscher” on the topic of “Artificial Intelligence” starts now. Junior scientists (m/f/d) can submit their complete application documents by November 1, 2020 (23:59 hrs).
For the application and further information about the conditions of participation, please use the following link to our application form.
The event is organized in cooperation with the three major Berlin universities: Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Technische Universität Berlin, as well as Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin.
As a company of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Humboldt-Innovation organizes the “Forum Junge Spitzenforscher”.
