SIX YOUNG RESEARCHERS RECEIVE AWARDS

On 22 November 2018, the closing event and award ceremony for the winners of the fifth ideas competition “Forum Junge Spitzenforscher” of the Stiftung Industrieforschung in cooperation with Humboldt-Innovation took place in the Animal Anatomical Theatre of the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.

1st place went to Constantin Wiesener and Thomas Schauer from TU Berlin with their project “STIMSWIM – swimming with electrostimulation after paraplegia”.

2nd place went to Alessandro Santuz and María Moreno Catalá with “Grandma, let`s go running: we got you wearables!” from HU Berlin.

3rd place went to the project “BIGAP – Seamless Handover for High Performance WiFi Networks” by Anatolij Zubow and Piotr Gawłowicz from TU Berlin.

The first three places will receive prize money of EUR 10,000 each.

In each case a 4th place occupied:

  • Inclusion through more mobility for people with dementia (Charité)
  • Holistic optimization of traffic light control (HU Berlin)
  • Destination Prediction based on Partial Trajectory Data using Recurrent Neural Networks (TU Berlin)
We also thank our expert jury: Marius Baader (Verband der Automobilindustrie e.V.), Dr. Carsta Herpich (BVG), Jan Michael Hess (Ecosummit Ventures), Lutz Hübner (Berlin Partner for Economy and Technology), Dr. Martin Schön (Bombardier Transportation), Onno Szillis (Deutsche Bahn AG – DB mindbox) and the Senate Administration for Economy, Energy and Business.
