FORUM JUNGE SPITZENFORSCHER REWARDS THE MOST INNOVATIVE APPLICATION IDEAS ON THE SUBJECT OF MOBILITY
Six young researchers receive awards
On 22 November 2018, the award ceremony for the fifth research idea competition “Forum Junge Spitzenforscher” (Forum for Excellent Young Scientists) of the Stiftung Industrieforschung, in cooperation with Humboldt-Innovation, took place. During the closing event in the Tieranatomisches Theater of the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, prizes were awarded to the following finalists and teams:
1st place was awarded to Constantin Wiesener and Thomas Schauer (Technische Universität Berlin) with their project “STIMSWIM – swimming with electrostimulation after paraplegia”.
2nd place was awarded to Alessandro Santuz and María Moreno Catalá (Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin) with “Grandma, let`s go running: we got you wearables!”
3rd place was awarded to the project “BIGAP – Seamless handover for high performance Wi-Fi networks” by Anatolij Zubow and Piotr Gawłowicz (Technische Universität Berlin).
The first three places have each received 10,0000 EUR in prize money.
4th place was a tie-between:
- Inclusion through more mobility for people with dementia (Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin)
- Holistic optimization of traffic light control (Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin)
- Destination prediction based on partial trajectory data using recurrent neural networks (Technische Universität Berlin)
